HOW TO MAKE 3D PHOTOS 3d from 2d

There are various ways of taking 3d
photos, below is a few examples.
Example 1.
Using a single camera: This is only suitable for objects that do not move.
Animals, Children or Plants/Flowers on a windy day are not suitable.
Place your camera on a tripod or steady surface and take your left
photo. Keeping the camera at the same height and pointing in the same
direction from point b on the diagram (About Two Inches/Approx 4 centimetres)
take your second/right image. Then follow the Method below.
Example 2.
Two Disposable cameras: Basically Fix both cameras to something
so they are side by side and level. I used a pallet corner for my attempt
which did the job nicely. When taking photos ensure the cameras are
level and click both cameras at the same time. Remember these cameras
are crud so don't take photos of anything moving too fast or you will have a
3D blur effect. Finish both films have them developed, then scan them into
your computer. Follow the Method below.
Example 3.
Two normal Cameras i.e. Digital,35mm film, or aps.
This is best done using a Tripod and a slide bar which will fit two Cameras
side by side. This is the method I use and my slide bar is here. I connect Two
Casio Digital Cameras to this bar to take my photos. Because i have to manually
click both buttons at the same time, one camera sometimes snaps before the other
which causes problems with moving objects. On some expensive film Cameras
a Device can be brought to make both cameras snap together. This is a Duel
Cable Release, you can get the DCR 20 Here. Once the
photos are on your
Computer follow the Method below.
Example 4.
Slides. There are some People that take 3d photos using slides and projectors.
I wont try to explain about Projecting slides, its very expensive and i have no
experience in this field. Although hand held stereo slide viewers are available
from www.stereoscopy.com
.
I have no experience in developing film. If you do this your
knowledge is greater than mine.
Method.
ONCE YOU HAVE BOTH PICTURES ON YOUR PC/MAC LOAD THEM BOTH
INTO A
PAINT PROGRAM, I USE PAINT SHOP PRO
BUT ADOBE PHOTO SHOP CAN ALSO BE USED.
PAINT SHOP PRO:
USING THE PICTURE TAKEN FROM POINT A, GO INTO DROP
DOWN MENU COLOURS/ CHANNEL SPLITTING /SPLIT TO RGB
AND CLICK, THE PROGRAM WILL PRODUCE 3 GREY IMAGES RED BLUE AND GREEN, DELETE THE GREEN AND
BLUE IMAGES
BUT NOT THE RED ONE, KEEP IT SAFE. THEN HIGHLIGHT THE PHOTO TAKEN FROM POINT B AND AGAIN
CLICK ON THE
DROP DOWN MENU COLOURS/ CHANNEL SPLITTING /SPLIT TO RGB. THIS TIME DELETE THE NEW RED ONE
BUT NOT THE
GREEN OR BLUE. ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THIS, CLICK ON DROP DOWN MENU COLOURS/ CHANNEL COMBINING
/COMBINE FROM RGB
A SMALL MENU WILL ASK FOR COLOURS TO USE, IMAGE RED1 GOES IN RED,GREEN2 IN GREEN,BLUE2 IN
BLUE, CLICK OK.
YOU SHOULD NOW BE LOOKING AT A NEW 3D IMAGE, RED SHOULD BE ON THE LEFT EYE, BLUE ON THE
OTHER
ADOBE PHOTO SHOP:
NOT BEING A GREAT USER OF THIS PROGRAM IT
TOOK A WHILE TO ACHIEVE THIS, SO DON'T BE AT ALL
SURPRISED BY THE METHOD USED. LOAD BOTH PHOTOS INTO THE PROGRAM, USING THE PHOTO TAKEN FROM
POINT A, TURN OFF THE GREEN AND BLUE CHANNELS (BOTTOM RIGHT) SELECT THE WHOLE PICTURE FROM
THE DROP
DOWN MENU SELECT/ALL THEN CLICK, OR PRESS CTRL+A, ONCE SELECTED PRESS CTRL+C THIS WILL COPY
THE RED CHANNEL
TO THE CLIPBOARD. THEN USE THE PHOTO FROM POINT B, TURN OFF THE GREEN & BLUE
CHANNEL, PRESS CTRL+A OR SELECT/ALL
THEN PRESS SHIFT+CTRL+V OR DROP DOWN MENU EDIT/PASTE INTO,
THEN TURN ON THE RGB, THE 3D PHOTO SHOULD BE COMPLETE.
TO VIEW YOUR PHOTO'S STEREOSCOPICALLY PUT
BOTH PHOTO'S SIDE BY SIDE AT THE SAME HEIGHT, IF YOUR VIEWING USING THE
CROSS EYE METHOD PUT THE PHOTO FROM POINT B ON THE LEFT.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU VIEW PICTURES IN THIS FASHION, THIS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS EYE
PROBLEMS.
3D From 2D Pictures
it is possible to make 3d from 2d pictures or
photos, below are 2 examples.
Starwars
and Starwars2These pictures
come as part of the game star wars racer.
There are websites dedicated to taking money of you for
the privilege of doing this for you
but with a bit of time and patience you can easily do it yourself. Most people have a paint
program of some sought on there system and most will do it, but the program within windows
will not, one of the most popular is jasc paint shop pro.
1.Load in to psp your 2d photo
2.Split the colours into red,green,blue
3.Use the red but don't close green or blue
4.Using the lasso/selection tool, draw around the main object.
5.Once selected do copy, then paste as new selection.
6.Move the new selection a couple of pixels to the right.
7.Repeat this for any other objects you require to be 3d.
(to the left of every move you will see a double image effect, if its not too bad leave it
if you need to get rid of it select the clone tool and carefully remove it.)
8.combine the red.blue, green together and you should have your 3d anaglyph photo.
The 3 examples above were done quickly and without much
care, if done slowly
and carefully you should be able to achieve as good a 3d picture as the real thing.
