| The BFI Imax
Cinema. (London)
This cinema from the outside looks like a newly decorated
gasometer
my anaglyph photo of it will prove my
point. but despite this the inside
is clean and very cosy. On my visit 15/04/2001 i saw two films in 3d
The first was "Into the Deep" a 3d documentary on sea life, This is ok
for adults but a bit slow for children, but the 3d was good in places
however a few scenes gave me some unwelcome eyestrain and had
to look away while that scene was viewing. The second film was an
animation "cyber world" which is a "MUST SEE" for all ages. The 3d
was outstanding and the sound was unbelievable. The film had no plot
as such it was purely 3d entertainment and well worth the visit. 10/10
This Imax Cinema has plumbed for the polarised glasses rather than
the LCD Shutter type that the Pepsi Imax in Trocadero used to have.
This is the only downer i could find, some of the images had very bad
ghosting effects which is something i never noticed with the shutter
glasses Pepsi used to use, (Pepsi Imax is no longer in trocadero).
But the 3d is great enough to take your mind of it, and if that isn't
enough the screen is the biggest i have ever seen. Apparently its as
tall as 5 double Decker buses.
Visit Bfi Imax website for schedules and ticket prices http://www.bfi.org.uk/imax
or Ring them on 020 7902 1234
The cinema is a two minute walk from the London eye (millennium wheel)
and
Waterloo stations. Have a nice day.

Updated June 2003.
Since seeing the films mentioned above i have seen "Space Station".
If your going to see this film i suggest you take a pillow or a
good friend along with you, I fell asleep 4 times during this movie.
Haunted Castle: This is Brilliant entertainment, iv seen this one
3 times and stayed awake each time :-)
Bug3d: The 3d in this film is great, but I missed most of
what was going on due to a Brain-Dead family sitting in front.
The critters on the Screen were far more civilised than
those idiots. |
